Midnight Manor Private Residence, Monday Evening

A Thanksgiving feast, even when just for two(ish) people, was still a feast, and thus had required both yesterday and today to be properly prepared. Most of the dishes were the same as last year: the main along with the side dishes of vegetables, potatoes, and stuffing. And yes, of course there were dinner rolls.

New this year was a soup and simple garden salad. Dessert was also the same as last year, with apple cake and butter tarts (along with a batch of the non-vegan variety that had been set aside for Marc).

"It looks fantastic," Watts said, surveying everything laid out on the dining room table. "Will you light the candles, then, while I go fetch us a bottle of wine?"

"I'd like that as well," Steven said. "Sit next to you. Stand beside you. Be with you."

"I'm pleased to hear we are aligned in our goals."

Steven shifted around, tucking his legs up underneath him so that he could sit while facing Llewellyn. He took in the results of his efforts and smiled. "There. Now we're aligned so I can better see you. I like this goal very much."

"Oh, that is nice," Watts agreed. "Hello, you." And he offered Steven another bite of cake.

Steven leaned in to take it, but not before sneaking a kiss on Llewellyn's cheek first.

"Flirt," Watts declared, the kiss on his cheek eliciting a pleased smile.

"So are you," Steven said, though his mouth was full of cake so it was perhaps hard to understand.

Steven offered Llewellyn a forkful from his plate.

That much was easy enough to understand, and Watts happily took that bite.

"This is fun," Steven said. "I like this. You and me sat together. Enjoying dessert. Comfortable."

"Cozy," Watts agreed, holding up another forkful for Steven.

When exactly he'd decided this was how they were going to eat their cake slices, he didn't know, but it's what was happening.

Steven took the bite. As he ate, he tried to scoot closer. Doing so might require him to drape part of his leg over Llewellyn's thigh, but that only seemed to be a benefit as far as Steven was concerned. Assuming Llewellyn was all right with it, of course.

All right with? Watts welcomed such closeness. Definitely a benefit from his perspective as well.

With that permission, Steven got comfortable. He offered another forkful of his cake to Llewellyn to punctuate their new position.

Watts took the bite happily, though not before taking advantage of their new closeness to sneak in another kiss.

Steven chuckled. "Cheeky."

"Comfortable," Watts replied.

[hasaknightjob]

"It is," Steven said. "Closer I am to you the better, you ask me."

"Not so close I can't share my cake with you," Watts said, offering him another bite. "At least, not yet."

Steven took the offered bite, but looked confused as he chewed. "How could it be too close?"

Watts leaned in until their lips were almost, but not quite, touching. "I like being this close," he explained. "But it would make eating our dessert difficult."

Steven shivered pleasantly. "I can see how that might be an issue, yes."

[pocketpretzels]

"Soon," Watts promised. "But first- dessert."

And then dessert.

Steven blushed. He got another forkful of cake and offered it to Llewellyn. His slide was almost gone.

Watts's own slice was greatly diminished as well, even more so when he finished the bite Steven offered him and held out one in return.

Steven took that bite, then snuck a quick kiss before settling in to eat it.
