Midnight Manor Private Residence, Monday Evening

A Thanksgiving feast, even when just for two(ish) people, was still a feast, and thus had required both yesterday and today to be properly prepared. Most of the dishes were the same as last year: the main along with the side dishes of vegetables, potatoes, and stuffing. And yes, of course there were dinner rolls.

New this year was a soup and simple garden salad. Dessert was also the same as last year, with apple cake and butter tarts (along with a batch of the non-vegan variety that had been set aside for Marc).

"It looks fantastic," Watts said, surveying everything laid out on the dining room table. "Will you light the candles, then, while I go fetch us a bottle of wine?"

Amazingly, in spite of all they'd been doing just now, Steven still blushed.

"Yes. Well. Thank you. That - that's very nice."

"Yes," Watts leaned in to kiss the tip of Steven's nose. "I do believe that was my point."

Steven snickered. "Your point was nice as well."

"Why, Steven Grant!" Watts exclaimed, feigning a shocked expression. "How wicked."

Steven ducked his head, but looked pleased with himself. "Sometimes."

He was learning at least.

"I like it," Watts assured him.

[hasaknightjob]

"Yeah?" Steven looked hopeful. "Been trying."

"Your efforts have been noticed," Watts told him. "However- you needn't do anything you are truly uncomfortable with."

"Nothing like that," Steven assured him. "Trying, seeing if I like it. Wouldn't try anything uncomfortable. Not in a moment like this."

"Good," Watts said, leaning in to kiss him again. "I love you as you are, I'll not have you trying to be something that you are not."

A statement which made Steven melt all over again. He kissed Llewellyn back, trying to show his love and appreciation in the gesture.

"You are my Gentleman Knight, after all," Watts murmured against Steven's lips.

[hasaknightjob]

"Yours," Steven replied in kind, to help make sure that part was clear.

[pocketpretzels]

"Now and always," Watts reached for Steven's hand as the kiss went on, threading their fingers together and giving it a squeeze.

"Now and always," Steven agreed. He squeezed Llewellyn's hand back. "As you are mine. Now and always."

"No one else will do," Watts said. "As no one else... is you."

Yes, he rhymed on purpose. Because he loved you, Steven.

This earned Llewellyn heart eyes from Steven. "My poet. Love of my life, and I know it."

Which got a delighted laugh from Watts in return. "I'm not the only one who can turn a phrase," he noted.

"You inspire me," Steven said. He snuggled in closer, closing his eyes and savoring the warmth of Llewellyn beside him. "You inspire a great many things for me."

"Never been anyone's inspiration before," Watts remarked.

Even Milo, who'd been an actual, professional poet.

"You inspire loads of things in me," Steven said. "Poetry. Romance. Bravery."

[pocketpretzels]

"I find you terribly brave," Watts reminded Steven. "Doing things even when they scare you."

[hasaknightjob]

"Thank you," Steven said, since he was getting better at remembering to do that. "Trying, I suppose. You're still an inspiration to me though, all the things you do that are outside of your comfort zone."

"Thank you," Watts replied in kind, clearly pleased that Steven had accepted his own compliment so easily.

Of course Steven had to kiss Llewellyn then, to reward him for the thank you.
