Midnight Manor Private Residence, Monday Evening

A Thanksgiving feast, even when just for two(ish) people, was still a feast, and thus had required both yesterday and today to be properly prepared. Most of the dishes were the same as last year: the main along with the side dishes of vegetables, potatoes, and stuffing. And yes, of course there were dinner rolls.

New this year was a soup and simple garden salad. Dessert was also the same as last year, with apple cake and butter tarts (along with a batch of the non-vegan variety that had been set aside for Marc).

"It looks fantastic," Watts said, surveying everything laid out on the dining room table. "Will you light the candles, then, while I go fetch us a bottle of wine?"

"Though let it be noted it is a position I have no complaints about otherwise," Watts said as he unfolded himself from the couch.

"I found it rather comfortable," Steven agreed. He picked up his plate and teacup to bring into the kitchen. "Could do it again sometime, when we're not in need of going somewhere."

Like upstairs to their bedroom.

"I'd like that," Watts agreed, likewise collecting his dishes.

"Perhaps with a cozy fire?" Steven said. "I thought about it tonight but - er - sort of suspected we wouldn't be staying long."

"A fire sounds very romantic," Watts agreed, gently bumping Steven's shoulder with his own.

"Some chilly afternoon perhaps," Steven said. He put his dishes into the dishwashing cupboard. "You, me, fire, tea, good books."

"And we shall have a number of those coming up," Watts said. "Chilly afternoons, that is."

"Good light from the fire too," Steven said. He lightly put his hand on Llewellyn's back in an acknowledgement of how the colder months were also darker. "Maybe a way to help in the evenings as well?"

Watts nodded, taking a moment to rest his head on Steven's shoulder.

Steven moved his hand so the light touch was now hugging Llewellyn around his waist. "And Midnight makes sure it never gets too dark inside."

"It's very good about that," Watts acknowledged. "Always a sliver of light at the very least, fro somewhere."

"Because we take care of each other in this family," Steven said. "Midnight and all."

"We'd best hurry upstairs," Watts grinned. "So I can take care of you in a very particular way."

"And me to you as well?" Steven asked, looking hopeful. As though somehow that wasn't going to be part of it.

"Yes," Watts nodded. "Looking forward to that as well."

"Me too," Steven said. Dishes taken care of, he reached for Llewellyn's hand.

Watts took the offered hand, bringing it up to his lips to press a kiss to Steven's knuckles.

"Charmer," Steven said, looking at him with heart eyes. "I like you, you know. A great deal."

"I am relieved to hear it," Watts replied. "Given how fond I am of you."

"One might even say 'love,'" Steven told him. "Er - me, I mean. I would say I love you."

Watts laughed, leaning over to press a kiss to Steven's cheek. "You did say so, in fact. Several times. And in case you'd like to hear it: I love you too."

"Always like hearing you say it," Steven told him. "Might even say I'm grateful for it."

"I love you," Watts leaned in for a proper, if quick, kiss, before he tugged Steven up a couple stairs, where he paused again to utter another: "I love you," and give him another kiss.

Steven giggled. Seeing where this was going - figuratively and literally - he went up a couple of stairs then paused to say "I love you" and give Llewellyn a kiss.

Another few stairs, another pause, another "I love you" followed by... yes, you guessed it, another kiss.
