BWI Airport & Then a Plane Enroute to YYZ, Sunday Afternoon

Part of the preparations for their trip had involved Watts being briefed on what was and was not allowed to be carried on to an airplane. As absurd as Watts found most of the rules, he did obviously abide by them, meaning their trip through the security line was uneventful, if somewhat tedious. Also, hey, the first real test of Watts's modern identity papers!

So, security, and then waiting at the gate- where Watts's attention had first been drawn by the wine bar but apparently there would not be enough time to sit and properly enjoy a glass before they had to board. What was possible, however, was a stop at some place called 'Auntie Anne's' which sold hot pretzels.

"Would you care for one?" Watts asked Steven as he tugged him towards the counter.

Again the ‘our’ had Watts feeling especially cared for.

“You take such wonderful care of me,” he said, and might have said more but for the reappearance of the flight attendant, who reminded them to turn their phones to airplane mode and then started to go through a safety demonstration.

Steven patted himself down to find his mobile and make certain it was on the right setting. "Would you like me to check yours?"

"I think I have it- it's here?" he held out his own mobile telephone for Steven to see, with the correct setting toggled on.

(The less was said about the time he'd accidentally unintentionally activated that mode for the first time, the better.)

Steven looked, then nodded. "Perfect. Much like yourself."

"Flirt," Watts declared, over another sip of wine after he'd tucked his telephone away.

"I've never flirted with you on an airplane before," Steven pointed out. "Don't want to miss out on that first either."

"Have you a checklist, then?" Watts asked. "Of places you'd like to flirt with me?"

"Oh yes," Steven said, once again looking very proud of himself. "It says 'all of them'."

"Scoundrel," Watts said, but he looked rather pleased by that answer.

[hasaknightjob]

"I mean perhaps not in the middle of an active volcano," Steven acknowledged. "But anywhere that's safe for us to do so, I would like to. This is the same list of places I'd like to kiss you as well, by the way. In case you were wondering."

"I very much like that idea," Watts assured him.

Though given how... attentive the flight crew seemed to be, kissing on an airplane might not be anything more involved than a quick peck on the cheek.

Steven was all right letting Llewellyn take lead there.

"You've your belt on?" Steven checked. "Nice and safe?"

"Yes." Watts pulled on the strap to demonstrate, right as the flight attendant walked by seeking an answer to the same question. "See?"

"Good. Don't want anything bad to happen to you," Steven said. He checked his own belt to make certain it was all right. "Not - I mean hopefully we won't need it other than precaution during takeoff and landing."

“We’re not meant to wear it the entire time?” Watts asked. “Like in an automobile?”

Steven made a so-so motion with his hand. "I think it's encouraged but not required? There's a little indicator there, see? That will tell you when it's required. Like now, because we're getting ready to leave."

"I see," Watts said with a nod.

"Oh!" his eyes went wide, a moment later. "We're moving!"

"It's going to get louder," Steven told him, so hopefully that wouldn't make Llewellyn nervous. "And there'll be some pressure when we take off. It won't hurt though."

"I appreciate the forewarning," Watts said gratefully, as the aeroplane began to pick up speed as it made its way down the runway. Watts's focus was on looking out the small window, and there was another "Oh!" as they started to lift into the air.

Steven put a hand on Llewellyn's arm just to give him something warm and solid to steady him if he needed. "Keep watching. It's wild when everything starts looking small."

"It's like looking down at a model," Watts agreed, as they continued their ascent. "You were not kidding about the pressure," he added, making a face.

"Doesn't it?" Steven said. "It's pretty at night as well, everything lit up. We should try doing a nighttime flight so you can see it sometime!"

"You would be willing to do all this again?" Watts asked. "For me?"

[hasaknightjob]

"There's very little I wouldn't do for you, Llewellyn Watts," Steven said, giving him a warm look. "Including taking another plane flight. Or dozens."

"I do love you so, Steven Grant," Watts declared.
