Midnight Manor Private Residence, Saturday Evening

After their usual jaunt over to the mainland, Watts had headed to the kitchen to do a bit of baking, and then to the library for some piano practice.

And as he'd told Steven the other day at lunch, he was close to mastering the piece he was currently working on. Maddeningly close, in fact. So absorbed was he in getting to the point where he could play it through without a stumble that he did not notice as the hour ticked over past that where he usually stopped for the evening so he and Steven could have dinner together. Instead, he kept playing, and playing, single-minded in his determination to finally master the piece.

Steven tucked a lock of hair behind Llewellyn's ear. "I'm glad to hear it. You'll tell me if you think of anything else?"

"I would," Watts finished up the last of his dinner and, on a whim, after placing his empty bowl back on to the table, slid down so his head was in Steven's lap.

Steven giggled as he looked down at Llewellyn. He indicated his plate. "I'm not done yet."

"Perhaps I shall take a nap, then," Watts declared. "You can wake me when you are finished."

He would not actually fall asleep. Probably.

"Quick nap," Steven warned. "I'm almost finished."

In proof he had another mouthful of noodles.

Did Watts close his eyes, then, and do a somewhat exaggerated imitation of someone snoring? Yes, yes he did.

He was rewarded with Steven giggling.

"Oh dear," Steven said, in more of a stage whisper than an actual one. "I suppose I should eat quietly so I don't wake this handsome prince."

"Or perhaps," came a voice that was surely not Watts's, incredibly deeply asleep as he was. "You might wake him in the traditional manner."

Which was meant for princesses, traditionally but this was the 21st century, after all.

"That is possible," Steven said, thoughtfully. Not looking at Llewellyn of course because he hadn't been the one who spoke. Steven took another forkful of his food, almost done now. "One could always try, I imagine."

"Have to be the right fellow, of course," the mysterious voice pointed out. "Not just anyone will do."

[hasaknightjob]

"Of course, of course," Steven said. "That's how it works. Not just any kiss. True love."

[pocketpretzels]

"And then your happily ever after," W- the voice agreed.

[hasaknightjob]

"I do like the sound of that," Steven said as he scraped up the last of his food. "Happily ever after with my true love."

[pocketpretzels]

"As would- he, certainly," there was a stumble over the pronoun given that the voice clearly couldn't be speaking in first person, here.

[hasaknightjob]

"Sounds as though I must do it then," Steven said. "To bring happiness to two people."

Steven finished the last of his food. "Hmm. Don't suppose a sleeping handsome prince could manage to put my plate on the table?"

Wordlessly, Watts held out a hand for said plate. While cracking one eye partially open so that he'd be able to see what he was aiming for.

Steven pretended not to see him as he handed the plate over.

Watts stretched out, sliding Steven's now empty plate on to the coffee table. All while fully asleep, of course.

Likewise Steven couldn't possibly be giggling, because that would mean he'd seen this happen. Any soft sounds to that effect were an illusion. Much like a sleeping person putting a plate on a table.

Once said plate was safely there, though, Steven looked thoughtful again. "Hmm. I wonder what sort of kiss would work?"

"Start light and go from there," was the suggestion.

[hasaknightjob]

"Good idea."

Steven bent down and placed a light kiss... on Llewellyn's forehead.

Which certainly didn't elicit a huff of laughter.

"On the lips."

[hasaknightjob]

"Hum?" Steven asked, innocently. "Nose?"

Steven moved to place a light kiss on Llewellyn's nose next.

"That is not-" Well, it wasn't, but it did feel nice, so the complaint was halted mid-way.

[hasaknightjob]

"Perhaps I should try lower?" Steven said, as though musing to himself.

With that he brushed a very light kiss over Llewellyn's lips.
