Watts couldn't pinpoint when, exactly, Steven came to bed during the night- only that he woke up in the morning clinging to Steven like a human octopus.

After waking there had been the promised breakfast in bed- French toast with syrup and fruit, of course. What followed that was- well, it may have been Steven's birthday but he had something of a gift for Watts of the variety that would normally go behind a cut tag or in the comments because NSFW.

Next up had been the part that Watts was the most apprehensive about- he'd put together a little concert of sorts of a few piano pieces he felt he'd especially mastered. But Steven had enjoyed it, so it was a success.

Late afternoon rolled around and Watts excused himself to go prepare dinner- he'd done as much of the prep work as possible yesterday but despite it not being quite as elaborate as last year's, it still did require some work day of.

Eventually, though, dinner was laid out in the dining room: A soup and salad, along with the main course (which Watts had cooked indoors, with Midnight's help, thank you). There was a cake as well, that would be brought out later. For now, there was music playing softly in the background, and all Watts needed was the birthday boy himself.

"Sweet for my sweetheart," Watts said fondly.

"From mine," Steven replied with a grin. He took a big forkful of cake and ate it. He nodded and made approving noises as he tasted it, once again his mouth too full for speaking.

"I thought about making the cake itself orange flavoured," Watts admitted. "But I thought that might be- too much?"

Steven swallowed, then nodded. "I think you made the right call. Just the right amount of vanilla to balance the marmalade."

"I'm glad you're pleased with it," Watts smiled. "I am as well, but- I am sure you could have guessed that." Oranges being one of his favourite fruits and all.

Steven leaned over to give Llewellyn a frosting-tasting kiss. "It's wonderful. Like you."

"Mmm, now who's sweet?" Watts teased, fully enjoying that icing-laced kiss.

"Both of us now?" Steven suggested. He gave Llewellyn's lower lip another light kiss.

Watts let out a little chuckle. "Suppose you're right at that," he agreed.

Steven beamed at him as he took another forkful of cake. "This is wonderful, Llew. Thank you. You put so much work in."

"It was my pleasure," Watts said. "Genuinely. I enjoyed putting everything together."

"I enjoy doing things for you so I can understand that," Steven said. "It's all amazing so far. You're so good at thinking of these things."

"Thank you," Watts said, colour appearing on his cheeks. "You're the first person I've ever really had an opportunity to put together any sort of- celebration for. So I am glad I am doing so to your liking."

"You've done Marc as well," Steven pointed out. "Not as elaborate as what you do for me but that shows you understand. He'd be miserable if you made a fuss."

"I save all my fussing for you," Watts said, leaning over to kiss Steven's cheek. "Marc- just enough to remind him he's got people who care for him. That he's important too."

[hasaknightjob]

"That he's loved," Steven agreed, looking at Llewellyn fondly. "You knowing how to be understated about it shows how much you care."

"He's family," Watts said with a small smile.

[hasaknightjob]

"It's an honor being part of your family, Llew," Steven said. "For both of us."

"You are going to make me cry," Watts said. And indeed, his eyes were looking a bit misty.

Steven moved to pull Llewellyn into a hug, in case that helped.

"I love you," Watts said into Steven's shoulder. "So much I ache with it. I love being part of your family."

"I love that with you I have one," Steven replied. He held Llewellyn nice and tight.

"Now and always, darling," Watts assured him.

"Mine all mine," Steven murmured.
