Watts couldn't pinpoint when, exactly, Steven came to bed during the night- only that he woke up in the morning clinging to Steven like a human octopus.

After waking there had been the promised breakfast in bed- French toast with syrup and fruit, of course. What followed that was- well, it may have been Steven's birthday but he had something of a gift for Watts of the variety that would normally go behind a cut tag or in the comments because NSFW.

Next up had been the part that Watts was the most apprehensive about- he'd put together a little concert of sorts of a few piano pieces he felt he'd especially mastered. But Steven had enjoyed it, so it was a success.

Late afternoon rolled around and Watts excused himself to go prepare dinner- he'd done as much of the prep work as possible yesterday but despite it not being quite as elaborate as last year's, it still did require some work day of.

Eventually, though, dinner was laid out in the dining room: A soup and salad, along with the main course (which Watts had cooked indoors, with Midnight's help, thank you). There was a cake as well, that would be brought out later. For now, there was music playing softly in the background, and all Watts needed was the birthday boy himself.

Steven took that offered hand. "Llewellyn Watts, you may have several."

"Wonderful news," Watts declared, pulling Steven in close.

"I'd dance the whole night long with you," Steven said, stepping closer.

Watts started leading them in a waltz, matching time with the music. "If that's what you wish," he smiled. "Though I had a different sort of dancing in mind for later."

Steven blushed. "Yes. Well. That too. With you."

"I should hope with me, Steven Grant!" Watts exclaimed, with mock outrage.

"I agree!" Steven said, chuckling. "Very clear rule as far as I'm concerned."

"Good," Watts smiled, leaning in to kiss him. "Not that I had any doubts, not really, but it's nice to hear all the same."

Steven kissed back. "There is only you for me, Llewellyn Watts. For always."

[pocketpretzels]

"No one else will do for me," Watts told Steven. "Only ever you."

"I've spoiled you for others?" Steven asked. Not trying to fish for compliments. More that sounded like what Llewellyn was saying and he wanted to be sure.

"Well and truly, you have," Watts said firmly.

"You have for me," Steven said. He got closer than was strictly necessary for dancing. "I can't imagine anyone as wonderful as you."

"That's how you know I'm real, yes?" Watts asked with a grin. "That you couldn't possibly imagine someone like me."

"It's one of the reasons," Steven said. He smiled at Llewellyn, the heart eyes there again. "I never would've dreamed of someone giving me my own piano concert."

"I'm relieved to hear you say that as if it's a good thing," Watts told Steven.

"You did it even though you were scared I wouldn't like it," Steven said, still looking at Llewellyn like he was a - well, marvel. "My brave Llew."

"I had my hopes, of course," Watts said. "Otherwise I wouldn't have- wouldn't have attempted it. But yes, I did worry that you might- not be entertained. Find it dull."

"I thought it the most beautiful thing," Steven said. "I adored it, truly."

"Thank you," Watts blushed. "It felt rather special, playing for you so- formally." Yes, he'd shown off a piece or two before, but nothing quite so elaborate as what he'd put together for earlier today.

"I could tell you put a great deal of work in," Steven said. "Not that it looked like effort. But I know how much you practice normally. I can only imagine how much more you did for this."

"Worth every moment," Watts said as he continued to lead them around the dining room.

"Was to me," Steven said. "May have been you playing but I felt like the star."

"So far as I'm concerned, you are," Watts said, leaning in to kiss him again.

"I get to be the star on my birthday?" Steven asked.
