Watts couldn't pinpoint when, exactly, Steven came to bed during the night- only that he woke up in the morning clinging to Steven like a human octopus.

After waking there had been the promised breakfast in bed- French toast with syrup and fruit, of course. What followed that was- well, it may have been Steven's birthday but he had something of a gift for Watts of the variety that would normally go behind a cut tag or in the comments because NSFW.

Next up had been the part that Watts was the most apprehensive about- he'd put together a little concert of sorts of a few piano pieces he felt he'd especially mastered. But Steven had enjoyed it, so it was a success.

Late afternoon rolled around and Watts excused himself to go prepare dinner- he'd done as much of the prep work as possible yesterday but despite it not being quite as elaborate as last year's, it still did require some work day of.

Eventually, though, dinner was laid out in the dining room: A soup and salad, along with the main course (which Watts had cooked indoors, with Midnight's help, thank you). There was a cake as well, that would be brought out later. For now, there was music playing softly in the background, and all Watts needed was the birthday boy himself.

"Seems one's limit is their imagination," Steven said. He leaned in and kissed Llewellyn's chin.

"Or possibly exposed skin," Watts countered, pressing a kiss to the shell of Steven's ear.

Steven shivered again. "Is this part of dessert? It's very sweet, if so."

"Yes and no," Watts said. "Dessert is on the agenda, for certain, but I also promised you some dancing."

"We could sneak kisses while we danced?" Steven suggested.

"I do like the way you think, Steven Grant."

"I promise I won't tell," Steven said, in a stage whisper. "That we're not doing proper dancing."

"Good," Watts stage-whispered back. "We wouldn't want to shock anyone, after all."

[hasaknightjob]

"Our cat son is very young after all," Steven said, still whispering. "Wouldn't do to scandalize him."

[pocketpretzels]

"No, no," Watts agreed. "Wouldn't do to have him cross with us as a result. My neckties would be in particular danger."

"To say nothing of our socks," Steven agreed.

[pocketpretzels]

"Mischievous little man," Watts said, shaking his head fondly.

[hasaknightjob]

"Can't blame him for missing us while we're gone," Steven said. "I'd probably make a nest of socks somewhere too if I were him."

"I suppose," Watts acknowledged. "But why does it always have to be single socks? Why can't he make off with a pair at a time?" he wondered. "Much easier to justify replacing."

"Maybe he wants us to miss them?" Steven suggested. "As he missed us?"

"Could well be," Watts said. "I'm going to end up spoiling the lad with attention tomorrow, aren't I?" he asked rhetorically.

"We both will," Steven promised.

Day ending in Y and all that.

"Sounds like a pleasant way to spend the day," Watts smiled as he finished the last of his cake.

[hasaknightjob]

"Bet he'd be happy to join us for a late morning in as well," Steven said.

Yes, technically Mondays were Marc's if he wanted them. But considering it was the day after their birthday Steven felt Marc wouldn't mind.

"Sprawled on the bed and somehow taking up more than half of it despite being a tiny fellow."

[hasaknightjob]

"And being impossibly heavy if we try to move him," Steven agreed, though with a fond smile.

"No earthly idea how he manages that," Watts shook his head.

[hasaknightjob]

"Perhaps it's his super power," Steven said. "Like his limitless supply of love."

[pocketpretzels]

"Mmm, I think we all share that one," Watts said, looking at Steven with unbridled affection.

[hasaknightjob]

"It's a shared family trait," Steven agreed, looking at Llewellyn in a similar manner.

Yes, he was including Marc in that statement.
