Watts couldn't pinpoint when, exactly, Steven came to bed during the night- only that he woke up in the morning clinging to Steven like a human octopus.

After waking there had been the promised breakfast in bed- French toast with syrup and fruit, of course. What followed that was- well, it may have been Steven's birthday but he had something of a gift for Watts of the variety that would normally go behind a cut tag or in the comments because NSFW.

Next up had been the part that Watts was the most apprehensive about- he'd put together a little concert of sorts of a few piano pieces he felt he'd especially mastered. But Steven had enjoyed it, so it was a success.

Late afternoon rolled around and Watts excused himself to go prepare dinner- he'd done as much of the prep work as possible yesterday but despite it not being quite as elaborate as last year's, it still did require some work day of.

Eventually, though, dinner was laid out in the dining room: A soup and salad, along with the main course (which Watts had cooked indoors, with Midnight's help, thank you). There was a cake as well, that would be brought out later. For now, there was music playing softly in the background, and all Watts needed was the birthday boy himself.

"I could tell you put a great deal of work in," Steven said. "Not that it looked like effort. But I know how much you practice normally. I can only imagine how much more you did for this."

"Worth every moment," Watts said as he continued to lead them around the dining room.

"Was to me," Steven said. "May have been you playing but I felt like the star."

"So far as I'm concerned, you are," Watts said, leaning in to kiss him again.

"I get to be the star on my birthday?" Steven asked.

"That you do, my darling," Watts told him.

Steven smiled to himself. "That's nice. Someone wanting me to be."

"My rare one," Watts said fondly, bringing one hand up to caress Steven's cheek.

Steven nuzzled into Llewellyn's hand. "You make me believe I am. Rare and special. In a good way."

"Treasured above all else."

[hasaknightjob]

"Treasured even as fool's gold," Steven said. Not as a protest, to show he understood.

"As you are," Watts agreed. "For what you are."

"As I am." Steven sighed contentedly as he rest his head against Llewellyn's shoulder. "What a wonderful sentiment. I love you as you are as well."

"I'm not too much?" He knew what Steven would say, yes. But he liked hearing it all the same.

"Never too much," Steven said. He kissed Llewellyn's cheek. "I can't get enough of you, actually."

"Another way in which you are remarkable."

"Thank you," Steven said, feeling proud of himself for remembering to say it and not deny the compliment. "Kind of you to say."

"It is the truth," Watts replied. "I have a personality that many find abrasive or off-putting. It's worked out wonderfully for me that to you I am neither."

"To me you are wonderful," Steven said. "Only someone kind and thoughtful could put together a birthday like this. Every detail considered. Everything with meaning. Taking care of me and Marc both. I love you."

"As I love you, hence taking the time and trouble to put it all together. I enjoyed getting to do so. Spoiling you," Watts told him. "And making Marc's pie for him."

"You've spoiled me beyond imagining," Steven said. "Couldn't ask for a better birthday, no matter what the number."

"That's going to make next year's celebration difficult..." Watts mused.

"Many things can be best," Steven pointed out. "They're special in their own way. Like last year's birthday was too."

"You really think so?" Watts asked.

[hasaknightjob]

"I know so," Steven said. "Last year was amazing and so is this year's. That's where the thought comes in. It's not about the - the concepts? Gesture for the sake of a gesture? You heard what I wanted and planned accordingly."
