Midnight Manor Private Residence, Saturday Morning

The heating pad had helped a great deal to soothe the ache in his arm, though at some point during the night Watts still found himself awake and restless. He scribbled a quick note for Steven and headed downstairs to make himself a cup of tea.

Fandom being Fandom, he never made it back upstairs, and thus come Saturday morning there was a tiny Llewellyn Watts fast asleep on the library couch, one arm slung over an equally fast asleep Raphael, who was laid out next to him.

"Good lad," Steven said, handing him the food. "I'll take care of the water."

Llewellyn took the food and- with great care (or as much care as a six-ish-year-old could manage), poured it in to the cat's food bowl.

Despite said care, a few pieces of food did manage to miss the bowl and skitter across the kitchen floor. Wide-eyed and a little nervous, Llewellyn looked at Steven to see what he would say.

"Well done!" Steven said, giving him a reassuring smile. "Hardly any spilled. I wager Raphael can help us out by gobbling up those few bits that missed."

Llewellyn relaxed. "It's not wasted?" he checked.

"Not at all," Steven assured him. He pointed to Raphael crunching down on a piece from the floor. "See? He's happy for his breakfast."

"He's really hungry!" Llewellyn giggled, watching Raphael track down those loose bits before heading for his bowl.

"It's breakfast. He's hungry like we are, isn't he?" Steven put a bowl of water down beside Raphael, then got out his mobile. He looked around for the glasses that were kept in the kitchen so he could put in the order for delivery.

Upon thinking about it, he realized if Llewellyn was small there was a chance others in the boarding house were too. He assumed Midnight would alert him if anyone was in danger. And there were odds they weren't little as well. Still, couldn't hurt to be cautious. So in addition to the waffles for himself and Llewellyn, Steven put in an order for an assortment of bagels, spreads, and fruits. Those could be eaten by anyone regardless of age.

"There we are! Food is on its way."

"Crackerjack!" Llewellyn said, clearly impressed.

Steven smiled, charmed by the reaction. "Now then, I'm going to put the kettle on. Would you care for some tea?"

Llewellyn's would be the highly milky variety.

What he really wanted was juice, but that hadn't been offered, so he nodded. "Yes, please."

Further offers would come as Steven got to them. Tea needed time to prepare, it was asked first. "Would you like to sit here at the counter while I get things ready for us?"

"All right," Llewellyn said. "You won't go far?"

"You'll be sat right here in the kitchen with me," Steven said. "I'll only go to get the delivery when it arrives."

Llewellyn nodded solemnly. "That's all right then."

"Now the stools are tall," Steven said, indicating the stools at the kitchen counter. "Shall I give you a lift up?"

He had been eyeing that stool dubiously, and thus nodded again.

"You all right if I hold you under your arms then?" Steven asked.

"Yes," Llewellyn said. "I need help up."

"Right, here we go then. On three?" Steven said. He put his hands under Llewellyn's arms. "One, two, three - up!"

With that Steven lifted Llewellyn so he could sit on one of the stools. Luckily even Steven could handle the weight of a child.

Even more luckily, Llewellyn was a pretty small child for his age. "Thank you!" he chirped as he settled in to the seat.

"Well done," Steven said. "Now how would you like your orange? Sections or slices?"

"What's the diff'rence?"

[hasaknightjob]

Steven gestured with his hands to help demonstrate. "Sections is how they come naturally. You take the peel off and pull them apart in chunks. Slicing is when we cut them up. So they are thinner, but the peel stays on and is a sort of handle to hold while you eat the inside."

"Oh," Llewellyn thought about. "Slices."

[hasaknightjob]

"Slices it shall be," Steven said. He then got busy with getting the kettle on for tea, preparing the teacups for the both of them, and then getting oranges. When the time came to cut the oranges, Steven held the knife to indicate thickness. "Now would you like this or thinner?"
