Midnight Manor Private Residence, Saturday Morning

The heating pad had helped a great deal to soothe the ache in his arm, though at some point during the night Watts still found himself awake and restless. He scribbled a quick note for Steven and headed downstairs to make himself a cup of tea.

Fandom being Fandom, he never made it back upstairs, and thus come Saturday morning there was a tiny Llewellyn Watts fast asleep on the library couch, one arm slung over an equally fast asleep Raphael, who was laid out next to him.

Steven caught the speed and smiled. "It's all right. Those are yours. Eat them as you like."

Llewellyn made sure to get every last little bit of orange off the peel, which he set aside carefully before taking his next slice and eating it much, much more slowly.

"There's a good lad," Steven said. He ate one of his orange slices before finishing getting the tea ready. Llewellyn's cup was weak with a great deal of milk - regular milk, thanks to Marc's supply. "Here you are. Careful, might still be hot."

"I saw you put milk in," Llewellyn said. "From the icebox- the frigerator."

"That's correct," Steven said with a smile. "Do you think that helped it be cooler?"

"Yes, 'cause things is real cold in there," Llewellyn pointed out. "'Cause of the magic."

Well. In a roundabout way, anyway, at least in this house in particular.

"That's right," Steven said, giving him an encouraging smile. "It does help the tea be cooler. But I don't want you to burn yourself accidentally, so take a careful sip to be sure it's cool enough for you to feel comfortable drinking, all right?"

Llewellyn made a show of blowing over the top of the mug before taking a sip. "Not too hot," he reported.

"Excellent. It's always good to check," Steven said. He did the same to his own cup of tea to show that even adults needed to be careful. "Not too hot for me either."

"How come you didn't put the same in yours?" Llewellyn asked.

"I like a different kind of milk," Steven explained. He got the carton to show Llewellyn. "See? Mine is made of oats."

"How do you get milk from oats?" Llewellyn demanded.

Steven knew the answer, but he liked encouraging imagination. So he first asked, "How do you think? If you were going to do it? Perhaps ask the oats nicely?"

Llewellyn giggled. "Oats is plants! You don't talk to plants!"

"That's true," Steven said, looking thoughtful. "I don't have that ability, so there's that option out."

There was the sound of someone at the door for their delivery.

"Aha!" Steven said. "There's our breakfast. Wait here while I get it, and when I get back perhaps you'll have a suggestion about how we get our oat milk?"

Llewellyn did not particularly want to wait there, he wanted to go with Steven, even if it was only to answer the door. Still, he stayed where he was.

He picked up one of the orange peel pieces and gave it an experimental nibble. Not great. But not terrible either.

He stuffed the peels from his plate into a pocket for later.

Steven came back a few moments later, too distracted with the bags of food to notice any changes to Llewellyn's plate. "Here we are then. Our waffles, and something for everyone else when we're done. Would you like honey or maple syrup with your waffles?"

Steven knew adult Llewellyn preferred honey, but perhaps the smaller version had different tastes.

"I... don't know," Llewellyn admitted. He nearly asked which Steven liked, but at the last minute went with: "What's maple syrup like?"

"It's sweet," Steven told him. "If you like I can put both out and you can try a bite of each? See what you prefer?"

"Yes, I would like to try both," Llewellyn said with a nod.

"Easily done," Steven said. He got out small ramekins and poured a little honey and maple syrup into one each. He put them on the counter in reach of Llewellyn. "You can dip a piece of waffle in there to see how you like them."

Llewellyn watched Steven pour the syrup and honey with open curiosity. "All right."

That taken care of, Steven then moved on to carefully putting their waffles onto plates. For Llewellyn's, Steven took the fruit that had been ordered to make a face on Llewellyn's waffle. Blueberries formed the smile and two banana slices formed the eyes. He then presented that to Llewellyn with a flourish. "Ta da!"

"You made a face!" That last word came close to being a shriek, but a happy one, judging by the fact that Llewellyn giggled after he said it.

Steven smiled, feeling glad and also relieved that Llewellyn liked it. "I did. A happy waffle, just for you."
