After getting checked in to the hotel and settled in the room with its view of the Tagus river, Watts and Steven were ready to start their adventure with a visit to the Oceanário de Lisboa. Following that, Watts had deliberately left the itinerary open. Perhaps they'd explore the city and head for dinner and a performance of fado music... orrrrr they might just head back to the hotel and order room service. Who knew!

"The dressing, of course," Watts murmured, though he suspected that particular detail was embellishment provided by the storyteller. "How'd that work out?"

Steven had embellished a tiny bit. In truth lettuce in those days was shaped differently and suffice it to say the juice which came out of the leaves was not clear in appearance. Ahem.

"Well the gods gather, right?" Steven said. "And they say we've got to get this sorted. Osiris isn't coming back from the dead any faster than last time. Someone's got to rule, which of you lot is it?

"Set stands up and says well, I've got proof I'm stronger than Horus. And he does magic, right? To make the proof speak up. Course he's thinking it's going to make noise from inside his nephew, right? But because Horus was smart it doesn't. It pipes up from where Horus tossed it in the Nile.

"So the other gods, hearing that, say to Set why are you wasting our time? Anybody can have a - " again Steven adjusted his wording considering their location " - a, er, go in the Nile. We've all done it. No point bragging about it. Sit back down and stop making a fuss.

"Then it's Horus's turn and he says funny thing about what my old uncle here was trying to prove. And he does the same spell. And because Set ate the evidence sure as anything it pipes up from inside him. So the other gods say well there you are then, Horus was the stronger one, he gets the throne, see you all next time when we've got to argue about this again."

Steven finished up and looked back at the display they were in front of. Reminded of why he'd gone off on this particular tangent, he added, "Oh, and that's how Thoth was born. Set having that inside him. Bang, pregnant, out comes Thoth with two dads, just like those penguins."

"Just like," Watts agreed, eyes twinkling with amusement. "Wild to think of it possibly being true."

"But you see how nice it is, yeah?" Steven said. "Nobody bothered that it was two men or them having a child. It was the fighting over the throne they were fussed about. Not helped by how Set was a bit of a twat. Could give Konshu a run for his money there, I imagine."

"Hmm, you put it like that," Watts said, and he was pulling Steven in for a kiss. Like most of the others today, a quick one, but one nonetheless.

This sort of behavior was only going to encourage Steven to keep telling stories. Hopefully Llewellyn was prepared for what it was going to be like when Steven had actual Egyptian artifacts in front of him for inspiration.

He was working his way up to it! Because yes, the opportunity to listen to Steven tell stories about a subject he was passionate about was something he was absolutely going to make the most of, here. Hence the positive reinforcement.

"For a tale well-told," he said as he pulled away so they could resume looking at the last few habitats.

Steven took Llewellyn's hand again. "There's loads of stories like that with them. Well, that's the only one that involves lettuce. Still, not a boring lot by any means."

"I hope to hear some more of them tomorrow," Watts said with a smile.

"I'm looking forward to the exhibits," Steven said. "I've not seen any of them before. Not in person at least. It's exciting."

"It was a brand-new exhibit when I first entertained the idea of going," Watts told him. "Quite the big deal."

[hasaknightjob]

"New to us both then," Steven pointed out. "Bound to have loads of things they've brought in since then. Maybe not things they're meant to have but might as well see them while they're there."

"Precisely," Watts nodded. "And- " oops, there he was getting distracted again, this time by two otters swimming along on their backs and holding hands. Paws. Whatever.

Steven smiled when he saw what Llewellyn was looking at. "Romance is in the air today, looks like."

Watts gave their own joined hands a gentle squeeze. "Looks like," he agreed. These, at least he was more familiar with than the penguins, though they were still terribly fascinating. And adorable.

"Can understand the urge to not want someone you care about to go far," Steven said, squeezing Llewellyn's hand back.

"I am a little prone to wandering, so it's best you hold on tight," Watts said.

Steven smiled up at him. "I'd never want to lose you, Llewellyn Watts."

For all that Watts had asserted he'd come find Steven should he get lost, it was nice to hear the reverse, or some version of it. So another one of those quick kisses was thusly meted out.

"I am getting spoiled at this rate," Steven said. Not that he was complaining.

"You deserve spoiling," Watts asserted.

Steven could only respond to that with a pleased blush and duck of his head. Very pleased, however. It wasn't often he received such compliments.

"And I am going to do my best to make sure that happens," Watts told him. "In all sorts of ways."

"Me as well," Steven said. "For you. As much as I can. You're worth it."

Well now it was Watts's turn to blush furiously at the compliment.
