Steven had wanted to learn how to bake a cake, and although the request had stirred some uncomfortable memories for Watts given the proximity to their anniversary, he wasn't about to let those uncomfortable memories hold sway over him. Thus he had gathered together the same list of ingredients that he'd used to make Steven's birthday cake back in March, for the purposes of showing Steven how to make said cake.

With Raphael currently ensconced in the living room fast asleep on the couch, it was possible they might even make it through tonight's project without any cat-related mishaps.

"I thought we'd start with the filling," Watts said. "So it has plenty of time to cool and we're not rushing to try and finish it while the cake bakes."
