MukBap Korean Restaurant, London, Wednesday Evening

It was their anniversary- well, of a sort, the anniversary of their first meeting- and so Watts and Steven had decided to celebrate in style, with an outing to the symphony followed by dinner tonight, and a weekend trip away that they would leave for tomorrow.

The concert had been wonderful, and afterwards Watts had walked Steven to a little Korean vegan restaurant a few blocks away.

"I wish I could try a little of everything," Watts admitted, looking the menu over.

"Is that not possible?" Steven asked, as he studied the menu as well. He'd dressed up for the night, in a grey suit with a blue tie and pocket square. "Or we could get plates to share?"

"I suppose there's nothing stopping us from ordering everything on the menu," Watts mused. "But it'd be an awful lot of food."

"Particularly as we'll be away," Steven had to acknowledge. "No real chance to enjoy leftovers. I'd like to try the pancakes? To start?"

"And the rolls?" Watts suggested. "Or the dumplings?"

[hasaknightjob]

"Dumplings?" Steven suggested. "I was tempted by them as well."

"Suppose we could always make a return trip," Watts said. "If we like it."

Since it was conveniently close to the concert hall and everything!

"True as well," Steven said, smiling. "Our city home away from home after all."

Steven rather liked being able to say that.

"What are you thinking for mains?"

[pocketpretzels]

"The bibimbap," Watts told him. "Though once again I am torn- between the tofu and the imitation beef."

[hasaknightjob]

"I was curious about the beef," Steven admitted. "It's an option in the KimBap? I could get it in that if you wanted and you could do the tofu in yours?"

"Brilliant!" Watts beamed at him.

[hasaknightjob]

Steven smiled back and closed his menu. "Excellent!"

Then he opened it again when he realized he wouldn't remember the names by the time the waiter came back. Much the same principle as instantly forgetting directions when you've tossed the box into the trash.

Watts smiled fondly as he watched Steven.

"There's also beverages to consider," he pointed out. Because yes, they had regular sodas and fizzy water, but also several distinctly Korean options.

"The grape drink seemed interesting?" Steven said.

[pocketpretzels]

"That was my thought," Watts agreed.

It had been years and he still wasn't accustomed to the taste of modern bananas.

[hasaknightjob]

"Could try the rice one with dessert?" Steven suggested.

[pocketpretzels]

"It's a plan," Watts smiled at him, before waving the server over so they could place their order.

Steven put his glasses away once they were done with their menus. As always, not in the same pocket he'd taken them out from.

"I thought the music was lovely," he said.

"Wasn't it?" Watts said enthusiastically. "I don't think Berlioz gets nearly the amount of attention he deserves, his work is brilliant."

[hasaknightjob]

"First I've heard any of it," Steven admitted. "But it was beautiful. Well picked, you."

[pocketpretzels]

"I'm pleased you enjoyed it," Watts told him. "It's a particular favourite of mine."

[hasaknightjob]

"I'm going to try to listen to more of it now," Steven said. "You've inspired me."

He then smiled at Llewellyn fondly.

Watts smiled back at him, though his smile faltered after a few moments as something occurred to him. "That's- you did genuinely enjoy it?" he checked, concerned. "Not just saying so because it is something I like?"

"I did," Steven promised. "Though I won't lie: I enjoyed watching you enjoy it as well. But I wouldn't say I liked it if I didn't."

[pocketpretzels]

"Good," Watts said. "I wouldn't want you to think you had to like it merely because I did."

[hasaknightjob]

"No such thing," Steven promised. "I enjoyed it. Looking forward to hearing more. I might ask your favorite pieces when I do, but that's only so I can understand what you like better."
