After they'd found their seats- nothing extravagant, though also not high up in the nosebleeds, but something reasonable in the lower bowl- Watts had almost immediately sprung back up to head to the concessions, coming back several minutes later with popcorn, nachos, a pretzel, a beer, a glass cup of wine, and two hot dogs (all beef, he'd checked). How was he managing to carry all that? Good question, don't worry about it.

"I wasn't certain what sort of fixings you'd care for," Watts said, as he handed the beer and one of the hot dogs to Marc. "So I brought some of everything." From a pocket, he produced ketchup and mustard packets, as well as several condiment cups with things like onions, hot peppers, and whatever else one might put on a hot dog.

Had Marc requested any of that? Possibly not, but he was getting it anyway.

"Think any fights will break out?" Marc asked.

If it had been anybody else he would've suggested placing bets on it.

"If they do, it'll be between those two," Watts said, with a nod towards the two players currently battling for the puck.

Marc again reminded himself not to say something like "I'll take that action" or anything related to betting.

"I can see it," he went with instead. "Make the game a little more interesting at least."

Not that the game was currently boring, but fights always made things more interesting.

Watts appreciated Marc's efforts in that area. Or, well, he wasn't actually consciously aware of them, but had he been, he would've said something to that effect.

"Fights do seem to feature more prominently in the modern game," he said.

"Would have thought they'd be more a thing for you time," Marc said. "Less rules or something."

"From what I've seen, they were more- serious, I suppose. But there were fewer of them. And they generally resulted in ejection from the game."

[hasaknightjob]

"More polite," Marc guessed. "Like not wearing hats indoors."

Which Marc himself was currently doing. Though his was at least related to the team they were watching.

Watts's own (not-team-branded) hat was tucked under his seat, on top of a plastic bag because while he could and did leave his hat in all sorts of places, a sticky arena floor was not one of them.

"Something like that, yes."

"Did you ever?" Marc asked, gesturing towards the ice. "I know you and Steven skate but you ever do hockey?"

Watts shook his head. "Not out of lack of interest," he admitted. "But-"

He hadn't exactly had enough friends as a child to make it feasible then, and as an adult he also hadn't had the time.

"Do you want to?" Marc asked.

Possibly not the right time of year to ask that, but still.

Watts shrugged. "It seems like it might be- fun?" he admitted.

"Could try it out sometime if you want," Marc said. "I'm no expert but - "

He shrugged, letting that fill in the rest.

"I- you would- with me?" Watts asked, surprised.

[hasaknightjob]

"I know a little," Marc said. "Not saying you could go pro or anything but enough if you're curious."

[pocketpretzels]

"I'd like that," Watts admitted.

[hasaknightjob]

"Getting kind of warm for it," Marc said. "But we could keep it in mind for later?"

[pocketpretzels]

"Midnight might also oblige us in creating a suitable environment indoors," Watts pointed out.

[hasaknightjob]

"True," Marc said. "I'm game if you are."

[pocketpretzels]

Watts let out a little snort of laughter at that, even though considering the source, the wordplay may well have been unintentional.

"Something funny?" Marc asked, since he hadn't even picked up on it, let alone intended it.

[pocketpretzels]

"You said you were game," Watts said in explanation.

[hasaknightjob]

It still took Marc a sec.

"Ah," he said, once he got it. Then, since it was true, "Steven would've liked that."

Watts nodded. "I had that same thought," he admitted.

[hasaknightjob]

"You know him pretty well," Marc said. "Better than me sometimes."
