Midnight Manor Private Residence, Saturday Afternoon

Saturday's routine had started off like normal, heading off to the mainland to attend services. Once they were back on the island, however, Watts was off to the clinic for the first in what he'd found out would be a series of vaccinations over the next several weeks.

Hence his current state, sore and generally unwell-feeling, bundled up on the couch in the library.

"Indeed," Watts said. "A Valentines getaway might be nice," he mused.

"For the cabin?" Steven asked, to be extra sure he was following. "That could be romantic. Cozy."

"That was my thought, yes," Watts confirmed.

"I'm looking forward to that," Steven admitted. "You and me, snuggling in by a fire, snow outside."

Yes, they could do all of that at home. But it was different in a cabin.

It was cozier in a small space. Unless the space was too small, then it was possibly claustrophobic, but Watts was absolutely going to take that into account when finding the appropriate cabin to rent. "A beautiful view." He was smiling up at Steven as he said that, so it was of course entirely possible he wasn't referring to whatever would be outside their window.

Steven blushed. "Thank you. Can I say I'm looking forward to the view as well?"

He did like looking at Llewellyn in firelight.

"Of course," Watts said, with a pleased smile.

[hasaknightjob]

"Could we go somewhere with ice skating?" Steven asked. "Or will we be somewhere too rustic? More snowshoeing, perhaps?"

"I was hoping to find someplace where skating would be an option," Watts admitted. "Though I suppose we ought to narrow down where in the world we'd like to visit."

"Europe?" Steven suggested. "Somewhere in the mountains?"

"What would you think of the Alps, then?" Watts mused.

[hasaknightjob]

"I think those could be lovely," Steven said. "Well - they are lovely. But as a location for our holiday as well. I've not spent much time there that I can remember."

Marc had but that wasn't important for the discussion.

"Then that is where I shall begin my search," Watts said. "I've always wanted to go, myself."

[hasaknightjob]

"We'll have to take loads of pictures," Steven said. "If we get something in the mountains it'll be amazing."

[pocketpretzels]

"And ideally not too isolated," Watts said. "So we can have somewhere to go ice-skating. And perhaps dinner out one night."

[hasaknightjob]

"Oh yes," Steven said. "And easy to get things in if we'd like it. Maybe not in the middle of town, but things to nibble on all the same?"

"Yes," Watts agreed. "I was thinking we'd call ahead and arrange for someone to stock the cupboards with some goods for us, but there's always the chance we'd forget some necessity or decide there's something in particular we'd like."

"That's smart," Steven said. He looked at Llewellyn with admiration. "Don't mind doing some cooking of our own. It's meant to be like camping, yeah? Only inside?"

"Precisely," Watts said. "I thought- nice, cozy meals. French toast," he smiled up at Steven. "Stew."

Steven smiled back down, feeling warm inside even still at the idea that he had a specialty. "That'd be lovely. Imagine how wonderful it would smell. French toast in the morning, stew cooking away all day."

"That sounds perfect," Watts said with a pleased sigh.

"Imagine coming home after a hike in the snow to the smell of stew," Steven said. He looked thoughtful. "Could we bring a slow cooker, do you think?"

"We'd have to bring an adapter as well, for the electricity," Watts reminded Steven. "But otherwise I don't see why not?"

[hasaknightjob]

Steven smiled down at Llewellyn with great fondness. "Someone's adapted, I'd say. To modern life. You."

"Hmm, mostly," Watts acknowledged. "Sometimes things still- surprise me."
