MHA #14, Thursday Evening

Following lunch with Steven, Watts had puttered around town for a bit, before heading back to the apartment building. His own apartment was only a brief stop, however, as he collected a little four-legged friend before heading across the hall to Steven's.

Putting the cake away in the fridge, he noticed the remains of both the pie and the whiskey he'd shared with Marc last night, and made sure the pie was covered both so it didn't dry out and so little sneak-thief felines didn't try and sneak a bite.

That taken care of, he headed back to the living room, picked out a book from the shelf to read and curled up on the couch, Raphael on his lap as he waited for Steven to get home.

"Perfect," Watts agreed, though he wasn't moving to get his mobile telephone to place the order just yet.

"Perhaps some ice cream to go with the cake?" A suggestion that probably caused another part of Marc to meet an untimely demise, given that Watts meant the vegan stuff and not "real" ice cream.

"Bit cold for ice cream," Steven pointed out. "Might have to stick close after we eat it. To keep warm."

Obviously Steven was pointing this out because that was totally a downside. Obviously.

"I'm willing to endure it if you are," Watts said seriously.

"We can get through anything if we're together," Steven said, just as seriously.

Watts shifted slightly so he might offer Steven a proper kiss. "Mmm, agreed."

"Might have to get under blankets later," Steven said. Still somber, of course. "Sacrifices must be made."

"Oh no, blankets," Watts said, a note of mock-horror entering his voice.

"With each other," Steven said, so Llewellyn was properly warned. "Raphael as well, perhaps."

"Are you certain these blankets are big enough to fit all of us underneath?" Watts wondered.

[hasaknightjob]

"We'll have to stick close, I think," Steven said. "To be safe."

[pocketpretzels]

"As you said," Watts murmured, one finger tracing a line along the shell of Steven's ear. "We can get through anything."

Steven shivered and pressed closer. "See? I've gone cold already."

The shiver was not from being cold.

"Tch," Watts tsked. "That won't do. I'll have to warm you back up, then."

"Hmm," Steven smiled at up at him. "Imagine you'd be right good at that. Talented."

“Reviews have generally been positive,” Watts said with a nod.

[hasaknightjob]

"Oh!" Steven said, now that he'd been reminded. "I've something I bought for us. Though - "

Steven looked towards the hallway. The distance seemed very far at the moment. "It's in the bedroom. Maybe I'll show you later."

“Only now I’m curious, you realise,” Watts pointed out.

"I could tell you?" Steven offered. Telling didn't involve standing, after all.

[pocketpretzels]

“Please.”

Though speaking of standing, or at the very least moving, someone was going to need to do so if ordering dinner was actually on the (heh) menu.

Perhaps Llewellyn's mobile was within reach?

"Right, well remember the other weekend? When you woke up different?" Steven asked.

This wasn't as odd a question as it might seem. Steven forgot loads of things that people expected him to remember.

The only way it was within reach would be if either one of them suddenly developed stretchy limb powers. Or telekinesis.

“Vividly,” Watts confirmed re the weekend in question.

Perhaps Raphael could grab it?

"Well I was thinking, you know, things around here tend to happen in cycles, don't they?" Steven said. "So could be it happens again. You waking up like that. And I thought, well, if it did. I wanted you to be happy. With - with things we end up trying. If we try anything. As we did."

There was a blush that gradually got worse the more Steven talked, yes.

“…Oh.” Watts said. He pondered that. “Could well be you next time, instead,” he pointed out. Or too!

“That’s, ah. I did have a very good time, with you,” he assured Steven. “But that you’d go to all that trouble to ensure it is so, if it happens again…” he trailed off, looking down at Steven fondly. “I love you.” He hadn’t actually said that yet today, an oversight he was now correcting.

Steven relaxed, glad Llewellyn was all right about the idea. "I love you too. I want to take care of you. Any form of you."

"You always do," Watts told him. "Getting me a gift on your own birthday," he added fondly. "Come here," he directed, because there needed to be kissing now.
