MHA #14, Thursday Evening

Following lunch with Steven, Watts had puttered around town for a bit, before heading back to the apartment building. His own apartment was only a brief stop, however, as he collected a little four-legged friend before heading across the hall to Steven's.

Putting the cake away in the fridge, he noticed the remains of both the pie and the whiskey he'd shared with Marc last night, and made sure the pie was covered both so it didn't dry out and so little sneak-thief felines didn't try and sneak a bite.

That taken care of, he headed back to the living room, picked out a book from the shelf to read and curled up on the couch, Raphael on his lap as he waited for Steven to get home.

Steven relaxed, glad Llewellyn was all right about the idea. "I love you too. I want to take care of you. Any form of you."

"You always do," Watts told him. "Getting me a gift on your own birthday," he added fondly. "Come here," he directed, because there needed to be kissing now.

Steven was more than happy to kiss back. There was still a backlog from lunchtime that needed catching up on. Also kissing Llewellyn was pleasant in general.

"Love you," Steven told him. As there was a backlog of saying that as well.

“You,” Watts managed between kisses, “are so very wonderful, you know. My Gentleman Knight.”

Steven blushed at the compliment. "I only want you to be happy. My Llewellyn."

“You make me happy,” Watts reminded him. “You’re the one who healed my broken heart, remember.”

Steven put his hand over the heart in question. "My job to keep taking care of it then, yeah? Keep it safe?"

“As mine is with yours, darling,” Watts confirmed.

"Never had anyone tell me that on my birthday before." Steven smiled up at him. "See? Good memories. All of them."

“And the first of many together,” Watts said hopefully.

"How else will I get my second birthday cake from you?" Steven asked, perfectly reasonably. "If you're not about for my birthday next year?"

"Good point," Watts said. He cast another glance at his just out of reach mobile telephone, and then decided to just go for it. The momentary loss of contact would be worth it considering it would enable him to place their dinner order.

"All right," he said, once he'd settled back in. "Two veggie burgers, chips, and a pint of ice cream for later?" he checked. "Anything else?"

Steven of course was terribly bereft and cold while Llewellyn reached for his mobile. It was horrible.

But then Llewellyn was back and Steven could resume his former position cuddled next to him. "Think that's it. Oh - make sure they know we mean French fries, not crisps."

Steven had had the UK to US confusion over chips before. He was not going down that path on his birthday. Not when he knew what he wanted.

"Of course," Watts said as he finalised the order. "Both have their merits, but when you want one in particular, the other won't do."

"Precisely." Steven gave him a kiss on the cheek. "My hero."

"Very heroic of me," Watts agreed with a grin. "Ordering dinner."

"Saving me from having to eat something I didn't want," Steven countered. "On my birthday, no less."

"Ah," Watts nodded in understanding. "Well, it's all part of the package, you see. Taking care of you means making sure you get exactly what you want for your birthday."

... And let's be real, pretty much any time Steven asked, as well, but especially on his birthday.

"Can I have you?" Steven asked. He slipped an arm around Llewellyn's waist. "I'd like you, if that's possible."

"You have me," Watts promised. "Every inch of me is yours."

Steven gave Llewellyn a coy grin. "Rather hoping for that as well."

Watts grinned back at him. "It's your day," he pointed out. "Whatever you'd like from me."

"I recall being told I could unwrap something?" Steven said.

Llewellyn. He specifically recalled it being Llewellyn.

"I do remember saying as much," Watts said. "You unwrapped a gift at lunch; was that it?"

"It was a very nice gift," Steven said. Because it was. "But no. I recall this being something bigger."
