Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, California, Saturday Evening

It had been a very busy Valentine's Day so far- first, there had been getting up early for services, after which Watts and Steven headed back home to grab their bags and head to their hotel. After settling in (and enjoying some of the champagne and strawberries Watts had arranged), they'd headed out for an afternoon at the beach and then a nice dinner.

Now, they were back in their room - well, not in the room, strictly speaking, as they were out on the terrace, getting ready to make s'mores. Though the temperature had cooled somewhat from that afternoon, it lacked the biting chill of a winter evening back east.

"Here," Watts said, handing over the back of vegan marshmallows that the hotel had provided.

Steven turned his attention back from the bouquets they'd brought with them (good thing for portals making such things easy). "Ah, yes. Wonderful. I'm glad you found this."

"This," Watts gestured to the firepit, and their s'mores fixings, "Is what decided it for me. A unique perk."

"It's fun," Steven agreed. Then he grinned. "Sweet. Like my husband."

Watts blushed, though that may not have been terribly visible in the firelight. "Flirt," he said, fondly.

"If I can't flirt with my husband on Valentine's when can I?" Steven pointed out.

"That wasn't an objection," Watts replied. "I enjoy your flirting."

"Good," Steven said, smiling at him. "Because I intended to do a great deal of it tonight, love."

"Wonderful news," Watts said, beaming, as he speared a marshmallow on to the roasting stick.

Steven did the same with one of his own. "Have you enjoyed our Valentine's so far? I thought dinner was lovely. Excellent wine pairings, as always."

"Everything about today's been perfect," Watts said. He smiled at the compliment. "All California wines. I thought it appropriate, given the setting."

Steven bumped his shoulder against Llewellyn's. "Perfect. Like you. And yes, I did like that they were Californian. We should bring some home with us before we go."

Watts leaned over to press a kiss to Steven's cheek. "I'd like that. I've a few in particular I want to keep an eye out for."

Steven had a fond smile as he thought about it. "Then we can make sure to have them when we want to remember this weekend."

"Yes," Watts said, grinning at Steven. "And I plan on making a great deal of memories with you this weekend."

"Are you?" Steven asked. He waggled his stick with a marshmallow on it towards Llewellyn. "Looking forward to making s'more memories with me?"

There was a slight pause while Watts worked that one out, and then he let out a bark of laughter. "Scoundrel. Yes."

Steven looked very proud of himself. "Some more memories about s'mores, in fact."

"You, my darling, are positively incorrigible," Watts said, shaking his head.

Steven giggled. He moved his marshmallow to toast over the fire. "I'm making memories with my husband. They're wonderful ones."

"I'm here with the man I treasure most above all," Watts agreed. "I anticipate many wonderful memories."

[hasaknightjob]

"A man you make feel treasured," Steven told him. He tried to get his marshmallow onto the chocolate and graham cracker without getting his fingers too sticky. He did not succeed, but that was part of the fun really. "Who is very happy to share things like this with you."

Watts, likewise, did not manage to assemble his own s'more without getting some of it on his fingers. "Perhaps not a traditional Valentine's activity, but- enjoyable nonetheless," he said, around a mouthful of s'more.

"We make our own traditions," Steven said. "I like it better that way."
