Watts and Steven had spent part of yesterday and most of today putting together their now-traditional Thanksgiving meal. There was of course the main along with the side dishes of sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, and stuffing as well as dinner rolls.

There was also a soup and simple garden salad. Last but not least was dessert, an apple cake and butter tarts (and the also-traditional batch of non-vegan ones set aside for Marc).

"I've got the wine," Watts said, holding up a bottle. "And I think that's everything?"

"There is one thing," Steven said, very seriously.

"Oh?" Watts asked, eyes going wide and a slight expression of worry creasing his brow. How had he missed something?

Steven reached out to grasp Llewellyn by the front of his shirt and pull him close for a kiss.

"Oh!" Watts exclaimed, melting with relief into the kiss.

"Very important part of dinner," Steven told him. He snuck another kiss. "One of many things I'm grateful for."

"Can't disagree with you there," Watts said, reaching up to brush his fingers across Steven's cheek.

"That and not eating outside, now that the weather's not as nice again," Steven admitted. "But being able to kiss my husband is one of the highest items on the list."

"Having a husband at all- and that it's you- is top of mine," Watts told him.

Well there was really no response to that except to kiss Llewellyn again. Not so long that dinner was in danger of getting cold, but not a short kiss by any means either.

It's possible- indeed, likely- that that had been Watts's aim in saying so.

"I love you, husband mine," he murmured.

Steven's face lit up as he realized something. "Our first Thanksgiving as husbands!"

"Yes!" Watts beamed at him. Also likely was that noting each and every one of those 'firsts' would continue to happen right up until their first wedding anniversary.

"Let's take a picture of us in front of what we've made," Steven said. He looked over the table. "I think we can get the idea of it at least. I'll have the other pictures of the food as well."

"And the photographs of everything in progress," Watts added.

[hasaknightjob]

"Precisely," Steven said. "So I think it'll be all right if we can just sort of get the general idea of what's on the table behind us. Mainly us that's key."

Watts nodded, setting the wine bottle down on the table and then turning back to face Steven. "Like so?" he asked.

Steven was giddy still with the realization it was their first Thanksgiving as a married couple, so he snuck another kiss. "Yes, perfect."

He patted himself down for his mobile so they could take the picture.

Watts waited until Steven had his mobile phone ready, and then reached out to pull him in close, slinging an arm around Steven's waist.

Steven tucked himself up against Llewellyn's side. He framed them in the shot, doing what he could to at least get the idea of the food on the table behind them. "Ready? One, two, three - "

And it wouldn't be a proper selfie, of course, if Watts didn't turn his head to press a kiss to Steven's cheek at just the right moment to have it captured on camera.

Which meant the picture likewise captured Steven's look of delight when the kiss happened.

Steven checked the picture, then showed it to Llewellyn. "Perfect, I'd say."

The look of delight was precisely what motivated Watts to continue doing so. Well, that and he just liked kissing him.

"Agreed," Watts said. "And now for your photographs of the spread itself."

Steven turned to do that very thing, taking a picture of each course in order - not that they would be fussy about what order they personally ate things in. "It all looks wonderful. You did a brilliant job."

"We," Watts corrected gently.

"You did most of the work," Steven pointed out.
