MHA #15, Saturday Evening

There were some habits Watts was aware he he had that were not particularly good habits, but ones he was unable to stop doing for one reason or another. One such habit was his tendency to shove his hands down into his pockets with enough force that the pockets eventually tore. Thankfully, although it seemed near-impossible to break this habit, dealing with the inevitable outcome was simple enough.

Hence the Saturday evening spent on his couch with his mending kit, music playing on the speaker he'd purchased alongside the headphones Miss Gingrich had helped him pick out.

"I did," Watts said, equally delighted by Steven's reaction. "There were a number of different options, but the fudge looked the most appealing."

"I've not had it before so it's new to me as well," Steven said. "As fudge, I mean. What did you think?"

"Haven't tried it yet," Watts admitted. Though he'd been awfully tempted, yes. "As I mentioned, I wanted- well. It's something I wanted to share with you. So I waited until I could."

"Who's wonderful? You." Steven gave Llewellyn a quick kiss. Note how he hadn't even bothered to ask if the fudge was vegan, because he knew with Llewellyn the question wasn't necessary.

Food-related experiences were, after all, another one of those ways of saying 'I love you' between these two.

"You taste of chocolate and mint," Watts noted appreciatively.

"You don't yet," Steven pointed out. He quirked his eyebrows up, waiting expectantly.

Watts broke off another small piece and popped it in his mouth.

A wordless appreciative noise rose in his throat as he tasted it, and then, once he'd swallowed:

"Oh. That is quite good."

"Not bad, isn't it?" Steven said. And then he went to kiss Llewellyn so that he could have the experience of a kiss that was sweet for more than one reason.

"Not bad, isn't it?" Watts couldn't help but echo with a grin.

"Think I need to try again to be sure," Steven said. And he helped himself to another, longer kiss.

"I do like a man who takes care to be thorough," Watts murmured appreciatively.

[hasaknightjob]

"Do you?" Steven asked. He bumped their noses together, smiling as he joked. "He must be very lucky. I envy him, being liked by you."

"On the contrary," Watts disagreed. "I do believe I'm the lucky one, to have someone like him."

Steven pretended to think about it. "No, no. Do think I'd much rather have you than whoever he is. Can't nearly be as handsome as you are for a start."

"I'll have you know, his face is quite pleasing. Very symmetrical."

[hasaknightjob]

Steven moved his hands up to cup Llewellyn's cheeks. "Far be it for me to argue with maths, but I still say I'd rather look at you."

"That works out rather well for me," Watts admitted. "Since we both know the he I speak of is you, and if you're looking at me, then that means that I get to look back at you."

And he didn't even argue the point about his own face; somehow Steven didn't find it as disagreeable as others did and Watts was thankful for that.

Steven didn't find Llewellyn's face disagreeable at all. A message perhaps reinforced when he said, "It's me then? Lucky me." and pulled him closer for another kiss.

"Mmm," Watts hummed. "Perhaps I ought to look into acquiring a few more pieces of modern clothing, if this is the reaction I get."

[hasaknightjob]

"I won't say I'd mind us being a bit more even on layers," Steven said. "But don't make yourself uncomfortable for me. Honestly, it's the absurd picture more than anything else. On the shirt, I mean. Not you."

Well, it really would only be a few pieces of clothing, as an occasional change of pace. He was rather fond of his suits and not inclined to give them up entirely.

Though Steven's comment on the absurdity of the picture had him looking down at it thoughtfully. "And this wasn't even the shirt I was originally provided."

Steven looked at the shirt and then up at Llewellyn in confusion. "But it's perfect for you."

You had no idea how right you were, Steven, when comparing to the other option.

"Then perhaps you ought to thank the person who I traded for it," Watts mused. "One of the Steves, as it happens. The blond one."

[hasaknightjob]

Steven shook his head. "I've not met that one."

Which was particularly ironic, considering a version of "that one" used to live on Steven's world.

"Nice fellow. Displaced in time as well," Watts shared. "Though not as significantly as I. But he seemed quite put out at being given a shirt that disparaged his home country, so I offered a trade."
