Midnight Manor Private Residence, Monday Late Afternoon

Watts and Steven had successfully made it to services on Saturday, though they’d declined to stick around for the usual coffee social hour in favour of lunch at café in Baltimore. From there it had been a quick trip to the supermarket where they’d picked up supplies to make dinner. Sunday, comparatively, had been much quieter, as was today. There had been sleeping in, and then breakfast late enough it was really brunch, and now…

Steven was in the kitchen preparing afternoon tea, and Watts was taken the opportunity to take care of something he really couldn’t put off much longer. Hence why he was currently ensconced on the living room couch with his mending kit, a pile of his clothing… and a number of Steven’s as well that he’d noticed could use some basic repair.

Steven wasn't feeling as out of sorts as he'd been one week prior. But neither was he in a place where he felt fully confident. Turned out that having your already shaky grip on reality thrown for a shock during a week that, among other things, included turning the clocks back an hour was not helpful for trying to relearn how to center yourself in where and when you were.

Of course clocks going back for an hour also meant that it was getting darker sooner. So Steven was particularly mindful as he put together tea for him and Llewellyn. He picked Llewellyn's favorite type of tea and biscuits both for what he hoped would be an extra bit of comfort for his beau.

All that taken care of, Steven set everything on a tray and went to join Llewellyn. "Here we are. Freshly made and all."

Watts looked up from where he was currently attempting to thread a needle.

“Oh, you’re wonderful,” Watts said, beaming at Steven.

"It's no problem." Steven put the tray down on the table in front of Llewellyn. "Er - the tea is fresh made. The biscuits we had already."

“I’d be very impressed if you managed to bake cookies in such a short time,” Watts said, putting aside the needle and thread so he could offer Steven a kiss in thanks.

Steven kissed him back. "Or at all on my own. Not quite feeling brave enough for that. Still need you holding my hand there, I think."

“However long you need,” Watts said. “I am happy to.”

"With biscuits and in general," Steven said with a smile. He made himself comfortable next to Llewellyn, trying not to disturb anything around him. "What are you working on?"

“Pockets, for the most part,” Watts told him, gesturing at the pile. “I do seem to wear them out rather quickly.”

If Steven took a close look at the pile, he might notice that it didn’t consist of just Watts’s clothing.

"Good idea. Can't have your snacks falling out," Steven said. He frowned. "Is that one of my shirts?"

“I- yes?” Watts said, peering over at it. “There’s a button missing along the bottom,” he said. “I thought- I have some that are very similar, one wouldn’t notice unless they were looking very closely, so I-“ something occurred to him. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have… without asking. I can run it back upstairs.”

Steven in the meanwhile was looking at Llewellyn with heart eyes definitely on the horizon. "You're mending my things for me?"

“I- oh. Yes. That’s all right?”

Steven lunged forward to give Llewellyn a very thorough kiss. Or at least as thorough as he was able.

“… That’s a yes, then?” Watts said, happily dazed.

"You're taking care of me," Steven said, looking at Llewellyn with wonderment.

Then, realizing he hadn't answered the question, said, "Yes. That is a yes."

“Well, yes,” Watts said. “I have the skill and the time. I’m just glad you’re not upset with me for- for presuming.”

The heart eyes were definitely in effect now. "It's not presuming. It's sweet. You're taking care of me."

“Always, my darling,” Watts replied. “I like doing so.”

Steven took in the tableau in front of him with newfound delight. "It's so..."

Steven tried to think of the right words. "Normal?"

“The extraordinary ordinary,” Watts said, recalling his words from a while ago.

His own gaze lingered on the tray with the tea and cookies, and don’t think he’d missed that his favourites were there, because he had not.

"That's the one," Steven said, glad Llewellyn had remembered it. "This is very extraordinary ordinary. I love it. And you."

“I love you,” Watts said, smiling as he reached for one of the cookies. “And I love our life together.”

"I'll love my button when I have it," Steven said, picking up his tea. "It'll remind me of you."

“There’s a few others in here,” Watts supplied. “I should be finished by tonight, but just in case- in case I don’t and you’re wondering where a particular shirt or pair of trousers got to.”

"Thank you," Steven said, grateful both for the mending and for the warning about why some of his things might seem to have gone missing. Now especially. "Do you mind me keeping you company while you work?"
