MHA #15, Monday Evening

Watts's day had been spent mostly handwavily looking in to the increasing number of disappearances, to no avail. The lack of leads was frustrating, but with the day coming to a close he had another problem on his hands: dinner plans.

Dinner plans for tomorrow were of course already sorted, which was all well and good, but that did leave Watts and Steven with a conundrum regarding what they ought to do for tonight. Beyond cooking for themselves, which they'd already decided.

Watts frowned thoughtfully as he sat on the couch, searching through recipes on his phone until. "Oh. That sounds nice," he mused, handing his phone over so Steven could see the recipe. "What do you think?"

Steven picked his glasses up from the coffee table and put them on so he could read. After a moment he smiled. "Oh it's a pun!"

That was clearly a vote for yes.

"It is?" Watts said, giving Steven a curious look.

"Yes!" Steven leaned over so he could point to the relevant words. "It's called a zesty recipe and there's lemon zest as a part of it. They didn't only mean zesty like enjoyable or spicy."

"Oh!" Watts said, nodding at that explanation. "Is that a vote in favour then?" he pretty much knew the answer, knowing his beau as he did.

"Very much so," Steven said, his smile wide. Would the food be any good? Who knew? Steven hadn't paid attention to that part. There was wordplay!

"All right then," Watts said. "I suppose we ought to get started?" Except that would of course mean moving from the very comfortable spot where he was currently.

[hasaknightjob]

"Probably should before it gets too late," Steven agreed. Though he didn't move either because he was quite content to be tucked up against Llewellyn as he currently was.

"On the count of three?" Watts suggested.

[hasaknightjob]

"As in get up on three or three then get up?" Steven asked. He was absolutely asking to stall for time on having to get up at all.

[pocketpretzels]

"Get up on three," Watts clarified. "But first..." he leaned over to pull Steven in for a kiss.

Steven hummed happily. Beau kisses were always welcome as far as he was concerned. They certainly added to the experience of beau cuddles, which he'd been currently enjoying.

Maybe the kisses could last longer than a count of three?

"There's another of those waiting in the kitchen..." Watts teased, with a gentle nibble to the bottom of Steven's lip.

[hasaknightjob]

"Hmm, don't think so," Steven said, grinning to show he was teasing. "Because there's only one you and you're right here beside me. As you should be."

"Ah, but if you were right beside me in the kitchen, then we could be preparing dinner together," Watts pointed out.

[hasaknightjob]

"That's true," Steven said. "All right, but only if there's also a promise of more of this later as well."

Steven hugged Llewellyn to indicate their current position.

[pocketpretzels]

"As much as you would like," Watts promised.

[hasaknightjob]

"All right," Steven said. He braced himself as though for great hardship. "On three then."

[pocketpretzels]

"On three," Watts agreed. "One, two- " and then he was hauling himself up and off the very comfortable couch.

Steven went along, because it was only fair. Also he was a little bit on top of Llewellyn so it would be difficult for Llewellyn to get up if Steven didn't too.

Steven kept his glasses with him since he might need them to read the recipe. "At least we'll have a fun dinner out of it? And you get a break from your work."

"Not something I normally require a break from, but it has been particularly vexing as of late," Watts admitted.

[hasaknightjob]

"Do you want to talk about it?" Steven asked. He started getting out ingredients for dinner. "Or would you rather have a break?"

[pocketpretzels]

"I don't mind talking about it," Watts said. "But there's been frustratingly little, beyond a slowly increasing number of disappearances."

[hasaknightjob]

"That's mixed news, isn't it?" Steven said. He sighed. "Means Gladio and Prompto may not have gotten stuck home again. But also means something bigger's gone wrong."

“‘Shit That Sometimes Happens’, as Miss Diaz so charmingly put it,” Watts said, getting out the blender.

"The island does enjoy having a laugh, doesn't it?" Steven said. He got the onion and garlic since he was usually the one doing the chopping. A thought occurred to him. "Stark's not gone, is he? If he is it may be the raccoons."
